Phil Harford, LICSW

Trauma-informed, relational, & humanistic psychotherapy.

Healing happens best when you feel safe to be yourself and feel supported. Healing often flows from a deeper awareness that leads to releasing old patterns of behavior, emotions, or relationships that are not working. Healing also flows from the courage to move toward positive and lasting change.

As a therapist, I use a collaborative, compassionate, and relational approach. You will always have a voice in a process in which evidence-based approaches are blended with creative, embodied, intuitive and humanistic care. I also strive to use approaches that are informed by the rapidly evolving field of neuroscience.

While being human has always been difficult, we are living in a time of unusual, prolonged stress and emotional suffering. As a trauma-informed therapist I recognize the necessity of incorporating mind-body approaches that move beyond talk therapy, approaches such as EMDR, the Flash Technique, Deep Brain Reorienting, somatic therapies, clinical hypnosis, guided imagery and meditation. Clinical hypnosis may be used to enhance cognitive-behavioral and exposure-based treatments. No one approach works for everyone, and I will strive to find the right approach(es) that works for you as an individual and tailor it(them) accordingly.
